Democrat Rabbi Barr: “After decades in Congress, Steve Chabot has become obsessed with taking health care away from people”
CINCINNATI – Rabbi Robert Barr, a Democratic candidate for Congress in Ohio, responded to Congressman Steve Chabot’s attempt to jam health care repeal into the Republican tax bill in a recent letter Chabot wrote to congressional leaders.
“After decades in Congress, Steve Chabot has become obsessed with taking health care away from people – and that will not change until he is voted out” Rabbi Barr said. “The hyper-partisan tax bill Chabot voted for was already going to raise taxes on middle class families and increase the debt – and now he wants to take health care away from millions and raise health care costs for Ohio families. Taking away health care from people is not who we are. A tax bill is no place to sneak in health care repeal. Congressman Chabot has been in Washington for too long. It’s time for a change.”
· Chabot signed a letter calling on congressional leaders to include repeal of the individual mandate in the final version of the tax bill.
· The Congressional Budget Office said that would result in 13 million fewer Americans having health coverage and premiums rising 10% higher over the next decade.
